Public hearing scheduled on proposed Garden State Parkway improvements in Egg Harbor, Somers Point

Dec 11 2019

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority will hold a public information center and public hearing Dec. 17th, 2019, on plans to widen the shoulders and make other improvements on the Garden State Parkway between mileposts 30 and 35 in Egg Harbor Township and Somers Point.

The public information center will begin at 4 p.m. at the Egg Harbor Township Community Center, 5045 English Creek Avenue, Egg Harbor.  Staff from the NJTA and the design firm will be available to answer questions about the proposed improvements. A formal presentation will be made at 6 p.m. Members of the public will be given an opportunity to make comments or ask questions on the record at the conclusion of the presentation.  Comments may also be submitted in writing. All comments — those made at the meeting and those submitted in writing — will be responded to in a written public hearing report.

The NJTA proposes to widen the northbound and southbound left and right shoulders of the Parkway between mileposts 30 and 35; reconstruct eight bridges that carry the Parkway over local roadways; lengthen the acceleration and deceleration lanes of the northbound entrance and southbound exit at Interchange 30; construct storm water management facilities; and make other roadside area improvements. In accordance with the New Jersey No Net Loss Reforestation Act, the Authority will present information during the meeting concerning the proposed reforestation effort associated with the project.
