Eastbound Newark Bay-Hudson County Extension of Turnpike to be reduced to one lane in two locations this weekend

Jun 13 2019

The eastbound Newark Bay-Hudson County Extension of the New Jersey Turnpike will be reduced to one lane in two locations this weekend as work proceeds on two construction contracts.

One work zone will be between Interchanges 14 and 14A, where a contractor will be making bridge deck repairs. The other will be approaching the Interchange 14C toll plaza. A contractor is reconstructing the pavement at the toll plaza. Three of the seven eastbound toll lanes will also be closed.

In both work zones, the Extension will be reduced from two eastbound lanes to one.

The lanes will close at about 8 p.m. Friday, June 14th, and reopen no later than 5 a.m. Monday, June 17th.

Drivers are urged to check traffic conditions before they travel through the area this weekend. For real-time traffic conditions, call 511 or download the SafeTripNJ app.
