ADVISORY: Eastbound Hudson County Extension lane to close again this weekend while sections of a new bridge deck are poured

Oct 31 2018

One lane of the eastbound Newark Bay-Hudson County Extension of the New Jersey Turnpike will be closed this weekend from west of Interchange 14B to Christopher Columbus Drive. Drivers attempting to exit at the Christopher Columbus Drive off-ramp will be detoured to Marin Boulevard.  The ramp to Liberty Science Center and the PATH station will remain open.

The closures will enable a Turnpike Authority contractor to pour sections of a new bridge deck and perform other miscellaneous repairs under a contract for rehabilitating three bridges on the Extension. This is the second of four weekend high-intensity construction cycles necessary to complete the repairs.

This weekend’s closure will begin at 8 p.m. on Friday, November 2nd, and continue until 5 a.m. on Monday, November 5th.

Traffic impacts could be severe, especially during peak travel times.

Drivers are urged to check conditions before they travel through the area.

For real-time traffic conditions, call 511 from a landline or a hands-free mobile device. Traffic alerts are posted on the home page of this website. Live traffic camera views can be found under the Travel Tools tab.
