Ramp from Parkway Local Lanes at Exit 105 to close for new phase of construction

Mar 10 2023

Construction on the Garden State Parkway Exit 105 Project will switch to a new phase this weekend as the exit from the southbound Express Lanes reopens and the exit from the southbound Local Lanes closes for construction.

Here’s what drivers need to know:

  • Southbound drivers who want to exit onto Route 36 will need to be in the Express Lanes during the new phase of construction. There will be no access to exit 105 from the southbound Local Lanes.
  • A temporary crossover has been built about three miles north of Exit 105 to allow one last opportunity for southbound drivers to move from the Local Lanes to the Express Lanes before they reach Exit 105.
  • Northbound drivers will not be affected by the change to the new phase of construction.
  • An entrance ramp from Route 36 to the northbound Parkway that was closed during the previous phase of construction has reopened.
  • The entrance ramp from Route 36 to the southbound Parkway will remain closed.  Drivers who want to enter the southbound Parkway are directed by sign to use Route 18 and Route 66 to access the Parkway at Interchange 102.

The Turnpike Authority awarded a $17 million contract to Earle Asphalt Co. to replace beams, decks, and parapets and make other improvements to five of the six bridges on entrance and exit ramps at Interchange 105 in Tinton Falls. Construction started in the spring of 2022 and is scheduled to continue until the fall of 2023.

The switch to the new phase of the project is scheduled to take place on the weekend of March 11th and 12th. If it is delayed by weather or other circumstances, this advisory will be updated, and notice will be posted on the Garden State Parkway Twitter feed (@GSParkway) and on the New Jersey Turnpike Authority Facebook page.
