Bridge deck repairs will reduce the eastbound Newark Bay-Hudson County Extension to one lane this weekend after Interchange 14C

Oct 28 2022

The eastbound Newark Bay-Hudson County Extension of the New Jersey Turnpike between the Interchange 14C toll plaza and Jersey Avenue will be reduced to one lane from Friday, Oct. 28th,  at 9 p.m. until Monday, Oct. 31st, at 5 a.m.  This is one in a series of weekend-long high-intensity construction cycles connected to bridge deck repairs on that segment of the Extension.

Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time and to check traffic conditions by calling 511 from a hands-free device or downloading the SafeTripNJ app.

The work is being done under a $15.2 million contract awarded in December 2021 to Joseph M. Sanzari Inc. for repairs to 22 bridge structures on the northern section of the Turnpike. The work generally includes deck repairs, joint repairs, replacement of asphalt wearing surface, bearing replacement, and miscellaneous substructure repairs.

No shoulders will be present during the closure but disabled vehicles will be advised to park behind the cones.
